FrogWatch Training
FrogWatch USA is a nationwide citizen science program that supports wetland conservation by engaging communities in monitoring amphibian populations. Volunteers learn to identify and report local frog and toad calls, contributing valuable data to scientists and conservationists. The program is led by the Akron Zoo and includes over 140 chapters across the United States.
The Thomas Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District (TJSWCD) and the Rivanna Conservation Alliance (RCA) have partnered to form the Central Virginia Chapter, and we invite you to join us by attending our upcoming training session!
This training includes:
- A presentation on how to identify frog and toad calls
- Instructions on how to establish your own FrogWatch monitoring site
- A call identification quiz to wrap up the session
- A visit to the quarry wetlands for hands-on call listening practice
This event is free, but registration is required – please RSVP below. If you have any questions, please contact TJSWCD’s Environmental Programs Coordinator, Courtney Harlow-Humphreys, at courtney.harlow-humphreys@tjswcd.org.
